Back in late March, reports emerged that two-wheel motorsport giant MotoGP had big plans. Now, the rumors are true, that Dorna Sports is teaming up with Amazon Prime. The fruit of this partnership is an exclusive docuseries that will follow the 2021 MotoGP World Championship. In essence, this is MotoGP’s answer to Formula One’s increasingly popular Drive to Survive Series.

The MEDIAPRO STUDIO production is set to hit the streaming platform in 2022, though no proper dates are confirmed. Just like that series, the docuseries will offer viewers a fly-on-the-wall look at the world’s fastest motorcycle racing Championship.

According to the reports, the series is expected to air eight 50-minute episodes for its pilot season. Of course, the series will boast of massive names like Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez, and Fabio Quartararo. Additionally, other stars include Francesco Bagnaia, Joan Mir, and Jack Miller. As a bonus, there will also be appearances from team managers and key paddock members.

It is also worth mentioning that the series will premiere in France, Italy, and Spain, among many other countries. Apparently, this series promises access to things like training sessions, team meetings, and more. Furthermore, it will help bring the fans closer to the action and riders, trying to expose MotoGP to a wider audience.

Of course, it will be hugely exciting for existing MotoGP fans. However, whether it will be as successful as Drive to Survive is a different kettle of fish. The F1 series already has a head-start, with three seasons aired on Netflix already. On the other hand, it could also have the same effect that Drive to Survive had. Naturally, a large majority of motorcycle racing fans will want to see Valentino Rossi’s final season immortalised on the screen.
