Emma Raducanu has had a busy week since winning the US Open. She has done several interviews and visited many famous locations like Wall Street. She also recently appeared at the Met Gala on Sunday. Emma mentioned she was thrilled to be there and got the chance to meet Lewis Hamilton.

Raducanu had previously stated that she was a big F1 fan and watched every single race. So she was naturally very excited and happy to speak to the 7-time F1 world champion at Met Gala.

Emma Raducanu recalls her first Met Gala appearance

The British tennis superstar mentioned it was her first appearance at the annual Met Gala. She also stated that it was a huge honor for her to be there and witness such great artistic performances.

“I managed to go to some really cool events and places. At the Met Gala, I spoke to Lewis Hamilton, which was really cool, being such a fan of motorsports and F1. It was really nice to see him and speak to him there.

“The Met was such an artistic event with great performances and I was very honored and grateful to have been able to go,” said Raducanu.

The Mercedes driver had previously congratulated Emma on reaching the US Open final. He posted on his Insta Story that he was rooting for her fellow Brit in the final.

“This is amazing!!! We’re all so proud of you. US Open final, let’s go Emma,” wrote Lewis.

Just incredible to see her rise: Lewis Hamilton

As reported by ESPN, Hamilton made a post on his Instagram congratulating the 18-year-old on her first slam. He praised her qualities as a competitor and as a person.

“Just incredible to see her rise. The focus that she has, the sheer determination. She’s such a sweet person as well. The UK has something to be really proud of in her. Can’t wait to see what she does next,” said Lewis.

He later mentioned that he hopes to derive inspiration from her and make Britain proud again by winning the Italian GP.

“You can take inspiration from anyone, and she’s definitely an inspiring figure. Today I will try to do the country proud as she did. It’s a little bit of a tough order but she just showed everything is possible,” said the Mercedes driver.

Hamilton could not repeat Raducanu’s triumph as he retired from the race after crashing with Max Verstappen.
