Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes have almost become synonymous. The Silver Arrows were indomitable since the post-hybrid era, and so was the British F1 driver. Together they picked up eight constructors’ championships and six driver’s championships. However, this might not have been possible without the great Niki Lauda. The late Austrian had been one of the significant forces to bring Hamilton from the team he started when he was young and won his first-ever F1 championship. Hamilton fans bow down to the immense contribution Lauda had in the Briton’s life.

Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 social handle recently uploaded a post on Twitter, remembering the late Niki Lauda on his birthday. This would’ve been Lauda’s 74th birthday if he wouldn’t have passed away at the age of 70. Hamilton opened up on the great Lauda after he passed away in 2019. As per Grand Prix 247, he said, “I remember getting a call from Niki in 2012 and we had never really spoken.”

So he’s on the phone and he’s like: No, you should come to Mercedes. This is where you need to be. Niki was the one who brought it to me and got it across the line. And in all of these years, he’s kind of been my partner in crime,” concluded the former McLaren driver on the man who has been always vigilant about him.
