We know Daniel Ricciardo for his ever-smiling, joking, and affable personality. This is what makes him a fan favorite. The F1 fans would like to see him next year, but he hasn’t landed a seat on any team yet. But it seems the Australian might have a place for his post-F1 career.

An Instagram live clip is doing the rounds on the internet that has taken the F1 world by storm. In the video, the Honey Badger revealed his love for UFC and how he may step into the octagon once his career at F1 concludes.

Daniel Ricciardo is a big fan of combat sports

McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo gave an interview to sports presenter Layla Anna Lee on Instagram back in 2020. The video has gone viral after uncertainty looms over The Australian’s future at F1. In the interview, we see him admit his desire to try his hand at combat sports after his racing career.

The Honey Badger says that he did a bit of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for six months. He continued, I did it for about probably six months and then I was like I’ll put it on hold till probably after my racing career.”

He confessed that it’s actually the adrenaline of a walkout and stare-downs that attracts him to the sport and not the idea of getting elbowed or kneed in the face.

While practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu came at a later stage in his life, donning the boxing gloves happened pretty early.

Ricciardo’s fascination with combat sports started at an early age

The Honey Badger revealed how his love for combat sports started early in his life. He explained how he got into boxing because of a friend when they were young.

I’ve always loved I guess combat sports.”

“As a kid growing up, one of my best friends was like an amateur boxer, so I did a little bit of boxing just to like stay fit as a kid”.

He was quick to admit, “I’ve got fight in my heart but I’m not a fighter.”

As we’ve all witnessed during his time at Red Bull and Renault, he does have a fight in his heart. His stint with McLaren, however, has not gone according to plan. With a car that lacks pace, the Australian has fallen down the pecking order.
