Alpine F1 is still struggling with its driver’s lineup. Fernando Alonso signed a new contract and Esteban Ocon still has his contract. So, they are worried about not losing their young prodigy, Oscar Piastri.
Oscar Piastri is a young Aussie talent who graduated from the Alpine Academy. The young Australian has proved his worth by winning the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup, 2020 F3, and 2021 F2 championships. So, the French constructor doesn’t want to lose such a great potential driver.

However, they can’t also promote Piastri to Alpine F1 because of no vacant seats. Fernando Alonso recently signed a new two-year contract, keeping him on the team until 2024. Also, Alonso’s personal sponsorship contract with Castrol will make it hard for Alpine to get rid of the Spaniard. Because Castrol is the oil sponsor for Alpine F1.
Also, Ocon has a contract until 2024. So, the Alpine is planning to loan Piastri to another F1 team for a few seasons. The most suitable deal would be to offer Oscar Piastri to Williams who always welcomes young talents. But Williams also has the Mercedes Formula E driver Nyck de Vries, who is planning to join F1. So, another option for Alpine is to loan Piastri to Haas F1.

The French constructor showcased excellent performance since the season opener in Bahrain. But Alpine bagged no points in their last race in Imola and even Alonso faced lots of damage, literally losing his sidepod after his contact with Mick Schumacher.
Even Ocon had to start the race from P19 after a gearbox failure in qualifying. But Esteban climbed up to P11 but lost three places again because of an unsafe pit stop release. Team principal Otmar Szafnauer is happy with the car’s speed. So, he wants his team to look for more race pace from the 2022 challenger to shine in future races.
