“Everyone is a Ferrari fan. Even if they say they’re not, they are Ferrari fans. You ask the guys at Mercedes, they are Ferrari fans,” said Sebastian Vettel during the Canadian Grand Prix in 2016. Who knew he was foreshadowing the biggest transfer of the sport? Mercedes’ face, Lewis Hamilton, proved that Mercedes guys are also Ferrari fans when he decided to be in Red from 2025 onwards. As big a relief as it is for Ferrari, Mercedes now has sleepless nights. They haven’t even recovered from the Hamilton exit and now rumors of other exits are also making the rounds.

Lewis Hamilton is a very big reason why people have stayed strong in Mercedes despite the team’s biggest slump. But those days are over. Toto Wolff, who must already be still hurting from Hamilton’s move, has another task at his hands. It is to retain Hamilton’s side of the garage. And as per reports, people have already begun leaving.

As per reports, Jérôme d’Ambrosio, ex-F1 driver and currently working as Mercedes’ driver development director, is set to follow Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari in 2025. Sources have suggested that he will head up Ferrari’s driver development academy and that d’Ambrosio “has already agreed on terms” with Vasseur and will head off to Maranello as soon as a period of gardening leave is over.

Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has set off a domino effect where the weirdest possible connections are being made. Carlos Sainz, who is unexpectedly out of an F1 seat, is someone who is a hot property for the grid. However, the recent Christian Horner controversy has set off another domino effect where Max Verstappen can be a Mercedes driver.

When asked about this development, Hamilton said in Jeddah, “My move’s shown that anything’s possible.” “I don’t have an extra scoop,” he said. “I know that- I’m sure Max. But I’m pretty sure he’s tied up. And also, I couldn’t see why you would leave a car that was that good.”
