Barretto revealed on the F1 Nation Podcast, “I think he has tons of options. I think he [Carlos Sainz] knows Toto Wolff very well. I know that Mercedes needs consistency, they want somebody who’s going to not rock the boat and they want somebody who’s going to get on well with George Russell. And Carlos Sainz fits that bill.”
The F1 writer and presenter further spoke about all the potential teams that Carlos Sainz can move to after the 2024 season. Considering the options, Barretto said, “Other possibilities include Aston Martin, a team already contending for podiums, and with potential for further improvement.” He also mentioned the opportunity at Sauber, where his former boss, Andreas Seidl, could potentially turn things around. Continuing his ideas for Sainz, Barretto said, “Even a move to Williams, under the leadership of James Vals, who has transformed the team significantly in a short period, could prove fruitful.”

Barretto further explained the benefits of each team: “While these options may not immediately scream Ferrari, they are teams on the rise, each at a different pace. With the potential for race wins at Mercedes, podiums at Aston Martin, and promising developments at Sauber and Williams, Lawrence has a variety of attractive prospects.” Lawrence ended this topic by saying that Sainz needs to come to terms that his time with Ferrari is over and move on.
