Red Bull has caught itself in the middle of some controversy just before they prepare for Max Verstappen‘s 4th World Championship. Things were going well for Red Bull. Some would say ‘too well’. But that streak of happiness seems over for Christian Horner due to recent allegations from a female team member.
Although Christian Horner has denied the allegations, an investigative lawyer is on the case to find out the truth. While the investigation takes place, Red Bull has started to look for a replacement if Horner is found guilty and rumors are that they already have a backup ready.

As Christian Horner finds himself in a lawsuit for inappropriate conduct with a female staff member, Red Bull has taken action to make sure the issue is resolved. So far there is no comment from Red Bull on the incident except the fact that the investigation is taking place. In Red Bull’s statement, they said “After being made aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation.” But while that happens on the sidelines, rumors are that Red Bull is ready to replace Horner with Jonathan Wheatley if found guilty.
Although many speculations expected Marko to take the position, Helmut made it clear that he has no interest in taking that role as reported by Motorsport Magazin. This leaves the team with limited options and Jonathan Wheatley seems like the prime candidate to fill in the spot at Milton Keynes. Currently serving as the sporting director at Red Bull, Wheatley embarked on his F1 journey in the 1990s with Benetton as a mechanic. The 56-year-old joined Red Bull in 2006 as a team manager.
The allegations have led to some problematic times for Horner, as he may have lost support within Red Bull, particularly in Salzburg. The Thai side of Red Bull, which holds a majority stake of 51% in the company has traditionally supported Christian Horner, being able to prevent his removal from his position as team boss will most probably hinge on the outcome of the independent investigation into the allegations against him.

Horner, aged 50, oversaw Red Bull’s highly successful 2023 season, winning 21 out of 22 races with Max Verstappen securing his third world title. He has been the team principal of Red Bull since they entered into F1 in 2005, achieving multiple drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
Horner received an OBE in 2013 and was appointed a CBE in the New Year’s Honors list last year. He has the record of being the longest-serving boss in Formula 1 starting in 2005. The team has immense respect for him and while the investigation is being carried out, everyone awaits a verdict before making any comment.
