“When we go crashing down, we come back every time, Cause we never go out of style, we never go out of style,” sang Taylor Swift about a certain James Dean daydream kinda guy. But as is the case, this is more relevant for Formula 1’s 7x champion and fashion icon, Lewis Hamilton. Expressing himself through his driving, music, and fashion, Hamilton has often described fashion as his second love.

But why do I think that he will never go out of style? Because he has been able to be the best of both worlds. In 2018, Hamilton partied in New York to celebrate his first collection then flew to Singapore and delivered the best lap of his glorious career. He faced everyone, including the late Niki Lauda‘s (triple F1 world champion and senior advisor at Mercedes) displeasure at his “other ventures”. But Lewis never backed down. He only grew stronger in his expression of his love for fashion. What do you think is next in store for Lewis?

“I’m working on some fashion stuff”, hinted Lewis Hamilton at the GQ Awards

Lewis Hamilton’s rise as a global icon coincided with Formula 1 shattering its image as a niche sport. Now the global sport had a global icon who was often spotted on red carpets and on the top steps of the podiums. Hamilton often expressed how drivers before him had “more to them” but they weren’t really able to showcase. Perhaps owing to this thought, Lewis has become the torchbearer of that change.

Now,

no commentator describes a fashionable driver as a distracted one, and no senior figures of a team can ask the team’s principal to curb a driver’s off-track activities. Lewis Hamilton walked so that many like Zhou Guanyu, and Pierre Gasly, could run. But Hamlin is not done walking.

He said, “I’m working on some fashion stuff. I can’t say too much yet, but keep your eyes peeled in the coming months.”

Earlier, he had also expressed his dream of working with Louis Vuitton. He stated, “Honestly, one of my dreams is I have thought about creating my own diverse LVMH. Like, I don’t know if we live in a time where that’s really possible. But that’s something that I’m conceptualizing.”

Is it what you, me, and the entire world are thinking? A COLLAB!!!! But why do we think so? It is because of Hamilton’s latest Instagram update.

Did Lewis Hamilton drop the coolest collab teaser of all time?

Lewis Hamilton went “Tokyo Drifting” once again. Is it becoming a tradition? Perhaps. But a more pressing ‘concern’ is the clips of the Eiffel Tower in those videos and the Dior logo Easter eggs. What is this boy from Stevenage cooking up? Let us take a look at what we already know, starting with his love for fashion, he also coyly hinted at “working on some fashion stuff”.

The F1 driver has even stated that he wants to create something with LVMH, a French brand (Eiffel Tower glimpse solved).  Additionally, he has spoken about taking inspiration and learning from various athletes like Boris Becker, Serena Williams, and even Michael Jordan. Could this all add up to what we are all thinking? Damn yes.

And knowing that he is inching closer to retirement, he needs to have other arenas to sprinkle his stardust, and what better than a foolproof plan to venture into the world of fashion? He said, “I’d spoken to so many amazing athletes… A lot of them said, ‘I stopped too early’ or ‘Stayed too long.’ ‘When it ended, I didn’t have anything planned.’ ‘My whole world came crashing down because my whole life has been about that sport.’  Some of them were like: ‘I didn’t plan and it was a bit of a mess-up because I was lost afterward. But it just got my mind thinking about: Okay, when I stop, how do I avoid that? And so I got serious about finding other things that I was passionate about.”

Even today, during the Chinese GP media day, Hamilton said, “I never thought that I’d be racing into my 40s. I’m pretty sure I said that I wouldn’t go into my 40s racing but, I think it’s such a crazy trip, life.” And all these things point towards A FASHION DROP!!! Let me remind you that this is the same man who booked an entire table at the Met Gala to take upcoming black designers with him. This is precisely why he will never go out of style, because style is so much more than your clothes, it is your cerebral capacity to express!
