It is said that a healthy mind lives in a healthy body. For a Formula 1 driver, both the mind and the body need to be at their best all season long for optimum performance. And diet has a big role to play in keeping their bodies healthy. It is usually believed that athletes need a good balance of vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals to be at their peak fitness. However, Lewis Hamilton has proven that shifting to a completely vegan diet had no negative effect on his fitness and performance levels.
On the contrary, he has often said that he feels much more energetic and healthy since giving up the animal-based diet. In a recent YouTube video from Denver Broncos, an American Football franchise Lewis Hamilton has owned since 2022 as part of the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group, the British Formula 1 driver helped reveal the Denver Broncos’ 2024 NFL schedule in a unique way.
Instead of a traditional reveal, Hamilton sampled various dishes representing each team on Denver’s schedule, showcasing a taste of each team’s local cuisine and letting everyone know what he likes and what he doesn’t. Hamilton started by trying carrots dipped in ranch dressing, which represents the Broncos’ season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.

Although he initially expressed a dislike for the ranch, he eventually found it tasty. The video continued with Hamilton’s reactions to different dishes, including his confusion about “yinzer” during the preview of Denver’s Week 2 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Hamilton had a particularly negative reaction to southern grits, related to Denver’s Week 8 encounter with the Carolina Panthers, calling it the worst and expressing distaste for its texture. “That is definitely the worst one,” said the Brit. “What the hell is that? The texture is so slimy. It looks like something you see in the Matrix… It’s like what you’d imagine they have in prison. That is Prison food… That one really offended me,” he continued, while laughing.
While Lewis Hamilton may not be the biggest fan of how some of the vegan dishes taste, he is fully committed to bringing awareness about animal cruelty, and his everyday food consumption speaks for itself!
What does Lewis Hamilton’s diet look like?
After a conversation with a friend in New York, Lewis Hamilton made the switch to a plant-based diet, driven by his love for wildlife and avoiding animal cruelty. His vegan diet consists of a balanced intake of macronutrients, with a focus on proteins and carbohydrates. He consumes a variety of plant-based proteins, such as falafel, avocado, and fresh and dried fruit, which have helped him gain muscle mass and improve his overall fitness.

The British driver has noticed significant benefits since adopting a vegan lifestyle. He has also been able to maintain a high-protein diet without relying on meat, eggs, or dairy.
In addition to changing his diet, the Mercedes driver has invested in a vegan burger chain called Neat Burger, which he co-founded with Tomasso Chiabara, Zack Bishti, Stasi Nychas, and The Cream Group. The company, which is now valued at around $100 million, aims to provide plant-based alternatives to popular fast-food brands.
Vegan fast-food chain Neat Burger, co-founded by Lewis Hamilton, opened its first-ever permanent US location in New York City on April 17 🍔
There are also multiple other Neat Burger locations including eight in London and one in Dubai.
