The FIA found Red Bull guilty of breaching the cost cap for the 2021 season. Team principal Christian Horner blamed the team’s overspending on the catering budget, which was extravagant, arguably. The statement started a series of jokes on social media which has now revived after Horner posted a photo of the Christmas meal his family put out for Santa.

FIA in its report revealed Red Bull had breached the budget cap by $2.2 million. While the actual breach was for around $400,000, the incorrect reporting of tax receipts inflated it to $1.4 million. Resultantly, the ruling body sanctioned the team with a $7 million fine and docked 10% of their wind tunnel time.

One user posted a hilarious mock statement from Red Bull after Santa’s meal caused the budget cap breach.

At least someone lauded Christian including a Red Bull can for Santa.

One user was confused because they thought the carrot looked like a hot dog.

Some were unhappy as they thought the meal Christian put out for Santa wasn’t appealing enough.

We don’t know whether Santa would be pleased with Christian. What we know for sure is that Red Bull had an early Christmas as they put on one of the most dominant displays F1 has ever seen.

Speaking during the Mexican GP weekend, as reported by Motorsport.com, Horner said, “Catering within Red Bull has always been a benefit that’s been provided by the group, a benefit of working within the Red Bull group that free food and beverage has always been provided.”

“Therefore, as something as a Red Bull policy, we viewed it as something of an excluded cost,” he added.
