There has been a cloud of doubt over the future of Nicholas Latifi in Formula One. The Williams driver has been struggling in the sport for a while now and still has not gotten into the grips with the new 2022 car.
It had seemed that he had turned a corner in his F1 career when he started to collect some points for his team last season. But the early season inconsistencies and mistakes have piled up the pressure on the Canadian driver in 2022.
There have been some reports suggesting that the Alpine reserve driver Oscar Piastri might replace him for the next season. But the Latifi has come forward to squash these rumors.

F1 fans had expected that Nicholas might give a tough fight to his new teammate Alex Albon. But it has been the complete opposite, as Albon has really embedded himself with the team well and has also driven brilliantly till now. Latifi accepted the fact that his results have not been good but panned rumors that the team might replace him.
“You shouldn’t pay attention to everything that’s written about me. And I’m not the only one undergoing the same treatment. However, I realize that my results are not satisfactory. I must do more,” said Latifi.
“It’s a matter of trust. I’m confident that I can drive as fast as Alex, whose learning experience behind the wheel of the new car was shorter,” said the Williams driver.

The Canadian is only one of 2 drivers who are yet to score any points on the grid this season. Till now, his teammate has outperformed him, despite being in the same car, in every race and has even got a point in the bag.

Hence, Latifi really needs to better his performances or the rumors might just become a reality in the upcoming silly season. It is believed that the Alpine reserve driver, Piastri, has been on the radar of the team to replace him for the 2023 season.
