The Red Bull champion, Max Verstappen, appeared in an interview for F1, wherein he weighed in on various subjects discussing the sport and the people who make it what it is. Max shared his personal views on the happenings in the F1 community. The Dutchman also weighed in on the subject of Valtteri Bottas’ shift from the Silver Arrows to Alfa Romeo.

The crowd favorite, Max Verstappen, is famously known for his unbidden honesty and an abashed take on things. He does not play the cards of diplomacy, and calls out the situation for what it is. The same applies to his approach to Valtteri’s team switch.

Max credits Bottas‘ presence of mind required to make a sound decision that is backed by extensive self awareness. Max said Bottas has the ability to accept that his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, was a better racer. And so, his decision was sound and beneficial.

In the interview, Max said, “After a couple of races you realise it’s not happening and you accept your role. I mean you still drive, you’re still finishing on the podium, sometimes you win a race. you begin on pole.”

“You just have to accept that the guy next to you is a bit better than you. It’s fine, it happens”

“But I think it’s also important that he did accept it. Some people cannot accept it and then it starts to go very long. And you don’t survive that long.”

“You have to accept your role. You cannot live in a fairytale world,” he said, in conclusion.

Meanwhile, in another interview, Valtteri Bottas also admitted his defeat to Lewis Hamilton.

After having experienced a turmoil of consistent ups and downs at the Silver Arrows, Bottas has finally come to terms with his times back at Mercedes. He believes that Hamilton made things harder for him, however, that contributed to making him a lot tougher.

Valtteri shared, “He’s a great guy and great driver–really fast. He definitely made me work hard to try and beat him. Sometimes I could, but on a season average, I couldn’t. So that’s how it goes.”

“You always meet–eventually someone who’s better than you and you need to accept it,” he added.

He concluded by saying that he was rather happy with his learning’s from the Silver Arrows. The competition with Hamilton taught him many lessons, and vice versa. He is also satisfied that when he was performing at his absolute best; he did manage to beat the seven time world champion.

Valtteri Bottas has long moved on to Alfa Romeo, where he seems to be happy, and coming into his own. Will 2023 be his year? We’ll just have to wait and watch out.
