Lando Norris and Max Verstappen were on the podium this weekend! Their race was rather lonely but still eventful throughout. Norris, however, was in disbelief that he managed to make it to the podium a second year in a row. So we guess it wasn’t Mercedes who were sandbagging, but rather McLaren. This British team, struggling so much in the beginning, has somehow turned things in their favor.

Lando Norris and Max Verstappen involve in a fun banter

Lando Norris had a fantastic start as he finished P3 in qualifying. Though he dropped a few points as he only managed P5 in the sprint race, he managed a sensational comeback in the race a day later. In a fun post-race interview, Max Verstappen and Norris took a sly dig at Mercedes and George Russell.

Norris made fun of Russell and said, “If I wanna be like George, I’d say I had like the 7th fastest car.”

Moments later, Max funnily advised Lando to say, “You should say it’s all the driver mate.”

As if that wasn’t enough, Max helped his friend out and later claimed, “I think you had the worst car of the field.”

This was all a fun take on Russell’s statement of calling Mercedes fifth-fastest a while ago.

Not expecting his car to be a podium finisher, Norris explained race winner Verstappen what probably happened. He also took a funny dig at fellow friend Russell again after his fight with Valtteri Bottas on track.

He said, “Idk it‘s difficult to say. It changes every weekend. The Mercedes wasn‘t this bad this weekend, we probably were still quicker throughout. The Alfa Romeo was maybe quicker, just couldn‘t get pass George.”

However, Norris was also quick to give his team credit where it’s due. Making sure they get the credit for beating Mercedes, he claimed, “Doesn‘t matter. We beat two cars that were probably one second quicker than us (one ended up in the wall, one in the gravel). Doesn‘t really mean you have the third, fourth or fifth best car. We executed a good race from our side. The car was good.”

Is this the beginning of the end for Ferrari?

On the other hand, Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz had the most ominous start to the race. Carlos’s contact with Daniel Ricciardo spun him around, and Charles Leclerc lost several places after a miscalculated move on Sergio Perez. All these things also factored in Norris’ P3. Interestingly, Lando’s teammate Ricciardo drove a damaged car throughout the race and failed to perform. Sadly, Ricciardo managed only a p18 on the table.
