Mercedes’ 8-year-long undisputed run has finally come to an end. The constructors’ trophy’s stay at Brackley started to look like a permanent residence but Red Bull have finally changed that. The Silver Arrows bid goodbye to the trophy with an emotional message that has left fans teary-eyed.

Mercedes started their dominant run in 2014 with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg at the helm. As Rosberg retired after winning the drivers’ championship in 2016, Valtteri Bottas took the baton to partner the Briton. George Russell replaced Bottas in 2022, but the team struggled throughout the season. An astonishing display from Max Verstappen was enough to break the dream run.
Emotional fans demand Mercedes bring the trophy back home next year
Max Verstappen broke Lewis Hamilton’s dominance in the drivers’ championship in 2021 but failed to bring home the constructors’ trophy for the team. It was not a tough task in 2022 though as the Milton-Keynes-based team won the accolade with 3 races to spare.
As the trophy now moves to Red Bull’s base, Mercedes posted one final picture of the trophy on their socials. The caption read: “It’s been an honor to have this very special trophy with us for the last eight years. A symbol of so much hard work and dedication.”

“For now, it’ll head over to Milton Keynes, but we’ll be giving it our all to have it back with us soon.”
As Mercedes fans had an emotional reaction to the post, Red Bull fans in the comments lauded the Silver Arrows’ commitment and grit they showed for 8 long years.
