Lewis Hamilton is a generational talent. He has worked hard on his immense talent and as a result, has made himself a ‘one in a billion’ kind of man. When his flair is such, even his possessions have to be the rarest of the rare. His Pagani Zonda 760 LH which he purchased back in 2014, was one of only 5 cars in the world. But on one unfortunate day, his carelessness caused him to crash the $11 million car. It has been 8 years since that incident and the horrific memories might return as the car has crashed once again.
The first accident dates back to 2015, a year after he bought the car. On an ill-fated Monday night, ahead of the Brazilian GP, the Briton lost control of his car and smashed it into 3 parked cars on the streets of Monaco. “It was a result of heavy partying and not much rest for a week and a half,” Hamilton said, as quoted by Mirror. “I am a bit run down.”
It was all a result of an unbalanced schedule with him training for a good portion of the day and having other jobs to do. And partying came as an escape from that but he couldn’t escape the ill effects of pushing the limits. Eventually, in 2021, he sold the car to a UK-based buyer. But the curse has followed the new owner, who has crashed the Sportscar today.

A few hours ago, supercar photographer, Ethan Gale posted photos of the heavily damaged 760-horsepower automobile on his Instagram. It is reported that the owner got a bit trigger-happy with the accelerator and crashed the one-off purple Zonda into the walls of the Penmaenbach tunnel located in Conwy, Wales. Fortunately, he emerged unharmed and no major injuries have been sustained.

The car was sold two years ago for 10 million Euros.

The owner will have to shell big bucks to get the car in good condition and back on the road. But what matters more is that he is safe and sound. For Hamilton, though, it was a car that was close to his heart. And the crash would surely distress him.

The Zonda has a rear-mid mounted V12 engine from Mercedes AMG with a 7.3L capacity producing 760HP. Hamilton bought the car for a mere $1.61 million before selling it 7 years later for $11 million. But when he had the car, what he loved most about it was the sound of the engine.
“It’s the best-sounding car I own,” Hamilton told motor1.com in 2018. The V12 engine and the 7.3L unit are bound to produce a roar that he can be proud of. And we all know how his eyes light up at the sweet sound of the older F1 cars. His reaction to Fernando Alonso’s Renault R25, which had the V10 engine, at the Yas Marina in 2020 should tell you all about it.

The same car might have been involved in 2 different accidents. But thankfully, both times, the owners came out unscathed. And that is probably where we should end this topic.
