Lewis Hamilton adopted Roscoe, his bulldog, in 2013. He joined a female dog, Coco, who was already a part of the Hamilton household. Roscoe became an instant hit among Hamilton fans and currently has an Instagram account with 751k followers. The pampered bulldog travels with Lewis to almost every race and gets all the deserved attention in the paddocks. 5 years ago, Lewis went as far as calling him his “closest friend” in an interview. That seems to have changed now as the F1 sensation has revealed why tennis queen Serena Williams is his most trusted confidante.
Serena recently set the red carpet of the Met Gala on fire with her bedazzling look. Dressed in an all-black Gucci gown, she announced her second pregnancy with husband Alexis Ohanian. The surprise announcement quickly became the talk of the town and Lewis too sent his best wishes through an Instagram post.

During a recent interview, Hamilton recalled his dominant days and revealed how he often felt lonely at the top. He also talked about not having many friends then and Serena, who too was on top of her abilities became a trusted confidante.
Speaking at the IWC Schaffhausen Chrono Challenge in Miami’s Design District recently, Hamilton said, “It can be quite a lonely experience being at the top of your sport. So, to be able to confide in other individuals who have experienced something similar. Serena and I — we talk a lot about sports and competition, and when we talk to each other about the struggles or the successes, only us in our little bubble can understand.”
“When you’re talking to Serena, you’re like — yeah, I know Williams, I know what you’re talking about. So, it’s pretty unique and a privilege to have those conversations.”
No wonder the duo has always backed each other. In fact, Lewis once expressed his displeasure when he found Serena’s name missing from the Top 100 highest-paid athletes list.
When the absence of women athletes in a coveted list irked Hamilton too much
When it comes to equality, in all walks of life, the Briton is perhaps among the most vocal athletes worldwide. Imagine his frustration when he saw that no woman made it to the 100 highest-paid athletes list. What bothered him, even more, was to see Serena’s name missing as well.

In 2018, RaceFans quoted him as saying, “There’s no reason why a woman should not be able to earn more.”
“Serena is in the top three of the greatest athletes of all time above a lot of, if not all, the people on that list, so it is a big, big question why. Women rule the world and I don’t understand. It just shows you we are still in the stone age and that needs to change. When will it change? I don’t know.”
