The Monaco GP is finally upon us after the wait of a week owing to the cancellation of the Imola GP. Before that, the Miami GP turned out to be quite the star-studded affair. Monaco, as always, is the fixture that sporting royalty and A-listers descend upon and this year is no different. Tennis beauty Maria Sharapova is once again on the grid, and while at it, she revealed her loyalty. Time to rejoice, LH Army, because she is a Lewis Hamilton fan.

Sharapova was there for the Miami GP as well and not just for the race day. A true F1 fan, she was there for the qualifying as well. Being among the most sought-after personalities in the world, let alone tennis, she had exclusive access to Hamilton’s Mercedes garage. While there with her fiance, she posed with the front-wing of Hamilton’s car.

The access to the grid walk before the start of the race is perhaps the most exclusive access one can get in F1. If you are Maria Sharapova, and you ask for it, you get it every race you visit.

As is the tradition, the celebrities on the grid often give interviews to the broadcasters and so did Maria. Speaking with F1’s correspondent, they asked her who she was rooting for. Maria replied, “I’m a big fan and friend of Lewis, so I hope he wins.” [Translated using Google]

Maria Sharapova discussed a similar idea when she appeared for the talk. She met F1 Academy women’s championship head Susie Wolff, racer and F1 journalist Naomi Schiff, and many others. Also part of the program was Lindsey Vonn (legendary skiing olympian), and Sarah Harden (CEO of Hello Sunshine).

She shared the pictures from the event on Instagram and wrote, “Miami!! A morning spent with powerful, smart & beautiful female leaders changing the sports industry one stiletto step at a time. Thank you for having me @f1 #WSJ #f1accelerate.”
