The French Open is in full swing. And with that, arguably the world’s most-favorite sport, Tennis is captivating the attention and lives of the global audience. Formula 1 drivers and their families are no strangers to this phenomenon, too. In the past, we’ve seen drivers like Charles Leclerc and George Russell grace Tennis audiences in packed arenas. However, sometimes, just sometimes, these stars of the asphalt like to enjoy the beautiful game from the comfort of their homes.
The Mercedes star chose to do exactly that. After a hectic run of races ended for Russell, rather than venturing out, the Brit chose to stay home before this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix. And with him, was his beau, Carmen Mundt. The duo, however, decided to spice things up a bit with a game of Tennis over lunch!

Russell and Tennis have gone hand-in-hand for quite some time now. And it would appear that his love for the sport has rubbed off on his girlfriend, Carmen Mundt, too! Working for an investment firm for a regular job and enjoying a game or two of Tennis has become a part of Mundt’s life with George Russell.
The 25-year-old came onto her Instagram account today to share a quaint afternoon presumably spent together by the duo. However, they were accompanied by Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz Garfia! Mundt shared a picture of her enjoying Djokovic v. Garfia on television, and captioned it, “Now that is a good lunch break.”
As it turns out, Djokovic and Russell share a deeper connection than we’d thought before.
Russell witnesses Novak Djokovic glory
Djokovic earlier this year started his campaign on clay with a bang. At the ATP Masters 1000, he defeated Gakhov in the second round. What’s more? F1 star George Russell was in attendance, observing the proceedings as they went along.

Tennis365 reported, “World No 1 Djokovic opened his clay-court campaign at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament on Tuesday and he claimed a hard-fought 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win over Russian qualifier Ivan Gakhov in the second round.”
“And Mercedes F1 driver Russell, who finished fourth in the F1 Drivers’ Championship last year, was on hand to witness the tennis master at his craft on Court Rainier III.”
