Maria Sharapova turned up the heat in 305 when she arrived for the Miami Grand Prix with her fiancee Alexander Gilkes. While her rendezvous with Formula 1 felt like a one-off incident, we didn’t expect her to be back so soon. This time in the most iconic circuits of the world, Sharapova was dressed in yellow and we couldn’t stop gushing. But what caught our eyes was what she posted in anticipation of the qualifying session.
Tomorrow, the streets of Monaco will witness their 80th race outing. In the circuit where driver precision is the biggest defining factor in maneuvering through fine margins, reigning champion, Max Verstappen took the pole in a very interesting run-up to qualifying. While we know that drivers go through a drill in preparation to get into racing mode, what was the Pole position award presenter doing?

Enjoying her time in the land of millionaires, the Tennis legend was asking intriguing questions from the Principality. She posted an update on her Instagram story standing from a balcony awaiting the racing action, or rather qualifying-grid setting the action to begin. She wrote, “Go fast or go home?” with a confused emoji.
While we hope Sharapova got her answer, she was also honored by the FIA to present an award that is the most important for these streets.

The streets of Monaco are unforgiving if you don’t perform on a Saturday. Saturdays are trickier than Sundays as race wins manifest in pit lanes, but the most part is decided on the day before. The qualifying session we witnessed today separated Verstappen and Fernando Alonso by the finest margin, i.e. by eight-thousandths of a second.
At the last second of the Q3 session, Verstappen snubbed Alonso to take the pole. And the coveted award was presented to him by the Tennis legend Maria Sharapova. And we are just in love with this crossover. While she was there to cheer Lewis Hamilton last time in Miami, she presented the Pirelli award to his nemesis, Verstappen.
