After going through some particularly challenging days, McLaren promised to deliver this time. Despite the fact that the entire qualifying round was built on errors, Max Verstappen managed to stay error-free and win another pole position. Today, though, the grid came a little bit close since it was only a matter of seconds. However, Lando Norris, who admitted to his deadly error of missing a golden opportunity, was the individual who felt he lost a lot. What exactly is the error, and why is the British driver so disappointed?

The qualifying started on a positive note for both the Mclaren drivers. But, despite giving it his all in the last seconds in Q3, Norris fell short of Carlos Sainz, who took third place. Since the British driver had already set his time, Leclerc challenged that in the last few seconds and produced his finest qualifying effort thus far, staying just 4 hundredths of a second behind Verstappen. While that earned him a P2, it dropped Sainz to P3 and eventually threw Norris out of the top three.

After the race, according to Lando Norris, he was seen to be complaining about the fatal error he made at the final turn, when the 23-year-old missed the apex at the most important and challenging last corner, costing him a well-deserved P3. If it hadn’t been for track limit problems, Norris believes he would have been ahead of his former teammate, Carlos Sainz.

In a tweet surfacing on the internet, Norris said after qualifying, “P4 as a driver. I am complaining. I could have been P3, I made a little mistake. The last corner is a difficult corner, and I just missed the apex a little bit. It definitely cost me P3, I would have like to beat Carlos.”

The fact that Norris knew between him and Oscar Piastri, the Briton was given the preference for the latest updates, the opportunity missed might pinch the 23-year-old a little more. But why did Mclaren only give Norris the taste of the latest upgrades?

Since the Austria Split of improvements, Mclaren has this week’s availability of certain spare parts in addition to a significant portion of improvements. Therefore, if the Papaya army had divided the parts accessible to both vehicles, it might have resulted in a penalty since it was a sprint weekend and the most important factor was avoiding damage.

Another reasons for Norris’ improvements are that he is an experienced driver and that he is ahead of Rookie Piastri in the points standings, thus theoretically he should have received an upgrade before Piastri.
