Toto Wolff and Co. have now set the stage for an emotional tribute to their German Legend with a $1,300,000 worth piece from Schumacher’s legacy. How are they paying this tribute?
2010 was the year when the dominant force in F1 that we know today started life. Mercedes stepped back into the ring as constructors with Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher. Schumacher came out of retirement to join Mercedes and set the roots for the team which won 8 consecutive constructors championships. The German drove for Mercedes from 2010 to 2012 and was then replaced by Lewis Hamilton.
After Mick Schumacher was booted off the Haas team at the end of last year, Toto Wolff took in Schumacher Jr. suggesting that he is taking care of him in the absence of his father from the track. Mick Schumacher recently drove the Mercedes W14 at the tire test in Barcelona and has now been announced to drive at the Goodwood Festival. Toto Wolff and Co. decided to let Schumacher run in his father’s Mercedes F1 car from 2011, the W02. Mick Schumacher is expected to fulfill his father’s legacy and driving his old car will bring him a step closer while paying an emotional tribute.

Motorsport-Total.com suggested, “Mercedes will also bring a German driver: Mick Schumacher. Schumacher will drive the Mercedes W02 from the 2011 season, which his father Michael piloted at the time. A highly emotional homage to the record world champion. It is Schumacher’s first appearance in Goodwood.”
Mick Schumacher will be accompanied by Sebastian Vettel at the Goodwood Festival of Speed when the 4X world champion will be driving some cars from his collection.

Michael Schumacher was Sebastian Vettel’s mentor and helped the 4x Champion with his racing. Sebastian Vettel won the 2012 Championship by overtaking Michael in the final laps and scoring enough points. Many believe that it was Michael Schumacher’s retirement gift to Vettel and a way for him to convey that Vettel has to continue his legacy. Sebastian Vettel returned the favor by mentoring Schumacher Jr.
Sebastian Vettel announced that he’ll be driving Nigel Mansell’s Williams FW14B and Ayrton Senna’s McLaren MP4/8 at the Goodwood this year. Sebastian Vettel has always advised his passion for Motorsport and is a true petrolhead at heart. The German driver will be driving these cars on E-fuel and want to spread the message that e-fuel delivers the same performance as conventional fuel.
