Aston Martin’s start to the 2023 season has been dreamy. The Fernando Alonso effect has worked for the team, as they currently stand second in the championship and the Spaniard has scored four podiums. But the team’s massive early success on the track has reaped huge benefits for the Aston Martin sports car brand.
Firstly, F1 Briefings reported that after Alonso’s first podium in Bahrain, Aston Martin’s stock price took a jump from roughly $238 to around $346. This podium not only increased the speed of the Aston Martin hype train, but also increased the brand’s reputation in the market and made Lawrence Stroll quite some money. Second, this success has also translated into more sales for the company.
The ripple effect of Fernando Alonso’s success has made $3.6 billion worth company fly high, by bringing in $80 million more! The Business Insider reports from the Financial Times Future of the Car Summit, where Stroll was speaking about the impact of the F1 team. There, the senior Stroll reported that the company has sold between 300 and 400 Vantage F1 edition cars, which serve as the safety cars in F1.

The car’s 2022 version, packed with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, 0-60 MPH in 3.6 seconds, and a top speed of 195 MPH, costs nearly $200,000. Meaning, the sale of this car alone made the company about $60 million to $80 million! Speaking about this feat, Business Insider quotes Lawrence Stroll as saying, “There’s an expression, I didn’t believe it but we’re actually experiencing it: race on Sunday, sell on Monday. Sounds like a small number, but for a company of our size it’s relatively important.”
Lawrence Stroll’s investment in the team has thus worked miracles for him. And as time passes and the F1 season progresses, with Fernando Alonso’s consistency, it is surely going to pump up.
All is well between Fernando Alonso and Lawrence Stroll
Fernando Alonso has brought the team a lot more value than just the numbers on his contract. However, with his success, tension was reported at Aston Martin, as the boss wouldn’t like the 41-year-old to outscore his son and Alonso’s partner, Lance Stroll.

But now, everything is said to be good. How come? Because Alonso recently praise his boss while drawing parallels with his former boss and controversial F1 name, Flavio Briatore. He says, as quoted by Motorsport Total, “You need something so that people listen to you and respect you and I believe that only Flavio and Lawrence have that leadership in all things that I work on.”
