As time passes, the priorities change. Fernando Alonso’s priorities have also changed, as winning 8 titles looks out of reach for the Spaniard. In an attempt to beat his former teammate Lewis Hamilton, the 41-year-old has set new goals. The said goals are supposed to make him the GOAT of motorsport in comparison to Lewis Hamilton being the GOAT of F1. What are these new goals?

Fernando Alonso is the most experienced F1 driver on this year’s grid. Despite that, the Spaniard has only won two championships. The 41-year-old recently suggested that his ultimate dream was to beat Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton’s record of 7 world titles. Alonso suggested that the ultimate dream is now out of reach, as time has already passed away. Nevertheless, the Aston Martin driver has set new goals in an attempt to beat Lewis Hamilton.

Neither Hamilton nor Alonso has won the Triple Crown. However, Alonso is a step closer as he has already won the Le Mans. If Alonso wins the Indy 500, he will become only the second driver to win the Triple Crown. Thus becoming the GOAT of motorsport. F1-insider suggests that Fernando Alonso also showed confidence in him being the first driver to reach the milestone of 400 F1 races. The Spaniard already has the record for most GP starts and the most race distance covered and is looking to add to it.

Alonso made his F1 racing debut in 2001. Despite taking years off from F1, the Spaniard is the most experienced driver on the grid with 20+ years of F1 racing experience. Oscar Piastri wasn’t even born when Alonso started racing in F1. When questioned about his age, Alonso suggested that his age will only be a disadvantage if a younger driver pushes him toward the end of a physically demanding race. However, that is not the case, so age only brings advantages in the form of invaluable experience.

According to F1-Insider.com, Fernando Alonso said “If a young driver overwhelm me in a physically strenuous race in the last lap, then age would be a disadvantage,” shrugging the age disadvantage Alonso further said, “But that doesn’t happen. So the age only brings advantages – because of the experience.”
