Lewis Hamilton has been more than just a driver for the Silver Arrows. The 7x Champion’s exploits on and off the track have shaped how the Mercedes brand has grown in the sport and globally.

It’s no secret that Lewis Hamilton is entering the twilight years of his F1 racing career. That being said, both Wolff and Hamilton know that their relationship and the latter’s role in Mercedes isn’t just limited to being a driver for them.

Toto Wolff reiterated this sentiment exactly while talking about Hamilton‘s future with the team. He said, “Although we’re not talking about a career end, it’s also important to speak about his role as an ambassador for Mercedes and the many sponsors that we have, and the implication he can have in our wider audience.”

Even though talks about Hamilton assuming an ambassadorial role are in the air, there is a sense of certainty that the Brit will race for Mercedes in the future. According to the Austrian boss, talks for a new contract are soon to be underway.

Lewis Hamilton has given most of his F1 career to the Silver Arrows. In his time, he’s been through hell and back, too. But the pair have stuck with each other and it seems as though the partnership is still growing stronger.

According to Wolff, Hamilton will negotiate another deal with the Brackley-based team. However, talks will have to wait until the season comes to an end. “We haven’t started having talks,” Wolff said. “We want to definitely finish the season and then find some quiet time over the winter like we have done last time around.”
