With Lewis Hamilton’s Career Going Downhill, Angela Cullen Jumps to His Rescue With Golden Words of Motivation: “Let’s Go Team”

Despite the confidence Mercedes carried coming into the 2023 season, the reality turned out to be quite depressing. Forget about winning races, the Silver Arrows scrambled to be the third-best in the championship. The first two races saw them take no podium. That changed when Lewis Hamilton put up a phenomenal display in Melbourne to secure P2. That was the team’s first podium. However, things went back to their gloomy self in Brackley when the Briton once again failed to impress in the two qualifying sessions and the sprint race in Baku. In times like these, he’s got the support of his estranged trusted confidante, Angela Cullen.

During their time together, Lewis and Angela became the best chums in the F1 paddocks. For the sake of it, Angela’s designation read Performance Coach. However, what she actually did for the Mercedes ace was much more than what is expected of a personal assistant. From carrying his stuff around, chauffeuring him to the track, to staying by his side at all times, she did it all. However, that came to an end earlier this year when Cullen moved on to pursue dreams of her own.

As going gets tough, Angela Cullen lends her support to Lewis Hamilton

Ever since the advent of the ground-effect regulations last year, Mercedes has failed to stay competitive. The team managed only one win during the entire season, that too courtesy of George Russell. That meant that Hamilton, for the first time in his long F1 career, went a full season without a race win. This season has turned out to be no less challenging in its own right. But good friend Angela’s support is unwavering.

Taking to Instagram recently, she wrote, “The present moment, in the stillness you will create magic. There is so much noise in the environments we have created around us and chose to live in, constant bombardment of information, from socials, phones,TVs, people around us , even our own minds with habits of overthinking and analysing are contributing to this constant chatter.”

“The challenge is to be in the present moment, where nothing else exists, focus and find the quiet ! This is where you will find your answers. This is where the magic happens. This is where dreams come true. Let’s go team LH.”

The news of Angela leaving caused quite a churning in the rumor mills. Some felt it was Hamilton who had fired her after a brewing rift between them. Others believed she left after she realized that he wasn’t a hot property in F1 anymore.

While announcing her departure, Lewis on his socials, wrote about Angela leaving to pursue her own ambitions. He wished her good luck for it. Angela too, taking to Instagram, praised his resilience and wished him well for life ahead. However, some felt it was a facade to cover up their rift.

Nipping the rumors in the bud while speaking with Viaplay after the qualifying in Jeddah, the Briton told, “She’s moving on to a different phase in her life. We’re still super-close and we have been texting every day. I’m so grateful to have had her with me on this journey. She’s one of my closest friends and she continues to be.”

Later today, Hamilton will start the race in P5 behind Carlos Sainz. Until now, the weekend has turned out to be quite a disappointment. Hopefully, Angela’s motivating words will help him.
