The ambitious man Lawrence Stroll took over Force India and rebranded it Racing Point for the time being before the team got married to the iconic brand Aston Martin in 2021. While the ambitions of the team soared through the roof, not much delivery was witnessed. However, the team ‘entered the chat’ with a blast because they had already scored 65 points so far, which is 10 points more than last season’s campaign. And the resurrected Fernando Alonso sits at the helm of this alchemy. However, with the three-week-long break before Baku, the apprehensions are soaring high. But the Matador won’t shy away from locking horns with the veterans like Mercedes.
Lawrence Stroll-owned outfit shocked the world when they landed for 2023 testing and the rest of the apprehension was put to bed when Fernando Alonso put it on the podium at the curtain raiser Bahrain GP. And with the three-week-long break and veterans like Mercedes may come out ahead of them but Nando and co aren’t done yet. As quoted by Formula Passion, Alonso admitted to the-race.com, he said, “I was hoping that 2023 would be a season of learning and that in 2024. I could challenge the Ferraris and the Mercedes–but we have already challenged them from the first GP in Bahrain, so obviously now everything looks more optimistic.”
However, he knows he is up against the mega powerhouses of the sport. He said, “Now we have to deal with their strength in development, and it is something we will see very soon in Baku, Imola, and Barcelona. I think the teams will start making updates to the car and we too need to be a top team in this respect. On and off the track, we need to learn a lot this season to hopefully be a top candidate in 2024.”

While Nando has his target locked, he never really wanted to go in for the three-week-long gap. And with his team already at the top of the charts, he obviously couldn’t wait to inch closer to that coveted win number 33.

The Aston Martin team principal is more than elated to have the Spaniard on board. In Krack’s words, “He shows everyone why he is a champion. Unbelievable, this consistency.” Watching the man chase after his third championship in 16 years and 33rd win for over a decade, we cannot deny the persistence.
Fernando, who is at the top of his game at the moment, already has plans for the break. He stated, “Of course, I’ll use the break to prepare better for the next race and review the first three. And in my case, I’m with a new team, so there are always a few things that we want to go through again.”
