Australian rookie Oscar Piastri scored points at his home Grand Prix, giving the team and supporters a sigh of relief. However, with all the bad luck McLaren could attract, the two race-long build-ups to points were a rather painful sight to watch. But the question is what can be more endearing than enduring last year’s F1 challenger and putting it in Q3 and points? An actual endurance race. And as unfulfilled dreams and Daniel Ricciardo became synonymous ever since the honey badger began struggling, another one remained and now his fellow Australian, Piastri, has echoed the same.
What is the common dream? It is Bathurst 12 Hour or the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour. An endurance race that takes place around Mount Panorama Circuit is what both the men from down under have an appreciation for. While Ricciardo was snubbed by Red Bull as Liam Lawson got a chance to take the F1 show car around it, Piastri has intentions of putting in the good word for himself.
As quoted by Speedcafe, talking about Bathurst 12 Hour, Piastri said, “At the moment, I’m obviously very much focused on F1,” he then added, “Maybe after my F1 career, maybe, but at the moment it’s purely on F1.”

Not taking away from the fact that it is a nice adventure, Piastri said, “Of course, it’s a cool race. I saw that Lawson took the Red Bull around there so I might have to give Zak a bit of a nudge to see if he’ll let me have a go in an F1 car. But I think in terms of racing the 12 Hour, it’s not at the front of my mind at the moment.”
And probably getting a cold shoulder from his old and new motoring home wasn’t enough that his old teammate has given him one as well. Lando Norris probably doesn’t miss the honey badger in that McLaren seat.
Lando Norris snubs Daniel Ricciardo to pick his new teammate
Lando Norris has picked his favorite amongst the two Australians who saw the changing of guards at McLaren. Now, being a veteran at Woking-outfit, he is put in the position to lead the team. And the British driver has only appreciation for the man he is set to lead, Piastri. Lando believes the rookie pushes him to do better.

As quoted by the Mirror, Lando said, “He’s doing a very good job, honestly. I feel so weird talking like I’m the older guy, the more experienced one!”
He also added, “But he’s doing a very good job, handling the pressure extremely well I would say, I think that is something that is very strong that I’ve seen in him. He’s calm, he’s controlled and he’s quick, so I feel like he’s got a lot of what you need. He’s pushing me more than what I’ve had the last few years, which is a good thing for us as a team as well. So, a good job, in the points today and not an easy weekend. He went up from sixteenth to eighth, so a good day for him too.”
