Mick Schumacher is now taking over as the king of team radio. After his famous “beep beep beep” radio in Sochi, the German brings another one for the books in Austin.
Having finished the race 16th, Schumacher was a little downtrodden. His race engineer gave him some consolidation saying, “A good job, Mick… did all you could. At least we had some decent fried chicken this week.”

It seemed to have done the trick, as Mick giggled in reply. “Ha, that’s true! We’ll see, we’ll call it winner, winner, chicken’s dinner, right?” His race engineer went on to promise his driver, “There you go. Next year…”

Mick affirmed the statement. “That’s right. Next year.”
As Haas is yet to score points this season, it’s unlikely that the remaining five rounds will change the team’s fate. Not quite the rookie season that Mick would’ve wanted, but the chicken dinner surely awaits the German next season.
Is Mick Schumacher right to hope for the 2022 season?
It’s well known that Haas haven’t used any of their 2021 funds in developing their car this season. The team continue with a similar layout to what they had last season; thus being smart with their capital and investing it in the revolutionary 2022 car.
Thus, the development of the Haas for the next season has been a long time coming. Further, Mick Schumacher has had a comparatively good season compared to his teammate.

At the US GP, Mick Schumacher was a minute ahead of his teammate, Nikita Mazepin; the Russian being two minutes behind the race leaders. Thus, Mick has pushed the slow machine to its limits, solidifying his racecraft as a driver.

The season has had its highlights for the German, more recently, his Q2 appearance in Turkey. His performance has been a ray of hope for the American outfit. Team principal Guenther Steiner had shared his expectations.
“I was obviously happy for Mick that he got it done, but for the whole team because we’ve had very few on-track highlights, and having something like this assures you that we can do it–that we can execute when we get the opportunity.”

As Haas gets ready for better results next season, fans can’t wait to see Mick shine and make it into points. Maybe it will be a chicken dinner for everyone next season!
