Born on March 23, 1996, Alexander Albon Ansusinha, famously known as Alex Albon in the F1 community, is a Thai-British driver currently racing for Williams and is in his 3rd year with the team. Albon kicked off his racing journey in karting at the tender age of 8 and quickly climbed up the racing ladder, showcasing his natural talent behind the wheel. In 2012, he caught the eye of the renowned Red Bull Junior Team, which led to his progression in single-seaters under the care of Red Bull Racing. In 2019, Albon’s lifelong dream came true when he made his debut in Formula 1 with Scuderia Toro Rosso but was quickly promoted to the senior Red Bull team to replace Pierre Gasly.

While Alex Albon is very well known in the Formula 1 circle as one of the brightest young talents, there is little knowledge about his family and his life off the track. Let’s change that today by looking at everything we know about the 27-year-old’s family and his house, which is more like a zoo with quite a few pet animals.

Away from the racetrack, Alex Albon’s personal life is a story of resilience, familial strength, mixed heritage, and dual nationality. Born in London, UK, Alex is the son of Nigel Albon and Kankamol Albon. Nigel, a former British racing driver, was the source of Alex’s passion for motorsport. Although he himself had a notable racing career, competing in various championships such as the Renault Clip Cup and the British Touring Car Championship.

Nigel Albon’s racing career spanned from 1993 to 2007, with highlights including participating in the FIA GT Championship and winning the Sepang 12-hour race in 2002 alongside his teammates. Following his racing career, Nigel spent several years competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. Alex Albon has often spoken about the influence his father had on his life, crediting Nigel for introducing him to the world of motorsports and giving him the necessary guidance and resources to pursue his dreams.

There was a time when Alex lost his confidence

And while Albon’s rise in the Formula world was meteoric, it was not without its fair share of troubles and adversity. When Alex was just 12 years old, his mother was convicted of fraud, resulting in a six-year prison sentence. This challenging time in his life deeply affected Albon, not only shaking his confidence but also proving to be a disruption in his racing career. However, with the support of his stepfather and siblings, he gradually rebuilt his confidence. Despite her troubled past, Albon’s mother remains a pillar of support for Alex and his siblings’ aspirations.

Although he was born in the UK, Albon feels more attached to his mother’s birthplace, Thailand. Albon’s decision to race under the Thai flag is driven by his strong sense of identity and pride in his heritage. He expressed his wish for a dual nationality racing license, similar to passports, but Formula 1 allows a driver to race under a single nationality.

Alex Albon has 4 siblings; 3 sisters and a brother

While Alex Albon continues to impress everyone with his racing skills, there’s little to no talk about his siblings. He has 4 of them; his brother Luca Albon and his sisters Chloe, Zoe, and Alicia Albon. Although there’s little detail available publically about Alex’s sisters, it is believed that they have made their own path to success in their respective fields while also sharing in Alex’s success and his joy as he makes his way to the top in Formula 1.

His brother, Luca Albon, is part of the close-knit support system for Alex including his sisters, offering much-needed encouragement and a shoulder to lean on whenever times are tough. It is remarkable that even in the era of social media, Alex’s siblings have chosen to maintain their privacy and kept their private lives and personal space away from the public eye despite the glory Alex brings being an F1 driver.
