The GP which ideally should happen in May is almost race-ready. In fact, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez recently gave us all a tour of what the track would look like.

The Hard Rock Stadium venue is situated in the Miami Gardens residence area. The north end’s proximity to the residents has made them concerned about the potential damage their ears can face. This is understandable since Miami is not used to an F1 race every year. Moreover, the residents apparently referred to an engineering firm’s report, which claims that F1 cars can produce up to 97 decibels of sound.

The lawsuit, which was brought by the residents on March 1, now needs to give proof to the judge of the harm a race can cause. Reportedly, every resident in the nearby area would hear the noise which apparently resembles to that of a chainsaw. However, Judge Alan Fine wants a justification to the claim of “unavoidable harm” by the residents. Moreover, he was reported as saying, “There are a number of different ways to avoid the potential harm – one of course is to wear ear plugs, that’s one. Two, to leave.”

Authorities have taken precautions to reduce the noise

The race promoter, South Florida Motorsports, has also reported taking action to limit the potential noise. The north side of the circuit will be shielded by PVC sheeting ahead of the race. This should manage a lot of their troubles. The case, moreover, has been asked to dismiss by the stadium lawyers, as it possesses no potential threat. However, judge Fine admitted to the case being in a “limbo state”.

Besides Miami, America will also host the Austin race, and next year will see the inauguration of the Las Vegas GP. F1’s new popularity in the United States has been received very positively. However, noise issues are understandable since America is a new market for F1. The sport has seen an immense growth in the country in recent years, but no good comes without a little trouble.
