After his stellar F1 debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Oliver Bearman has now begun testing Ferrari’s 2022 F1-75 car at Fiorano, marking his milestone progress in the Ferrari Driver Academy. But after the glimpse that the world saw of the British rookie, F1 fans have been left wanting more and with one question, will Ollie Bearman drive for Ferrari again in Australia?
When Oliver Bearman was asked if he would drive in Australia, the rookie made it clear that it was Carlos Sainz‘s car. He said, “I hope not. It’s his [Carlos Sainz’s] car, and I feel like I shouldn’t be in his car. I should give it back to him so he can have another turn.” Interestingly, Ferrari TP Frederic Vasseur had stated he doesn’t know if Sainz will be available for Australia.
According to Planet Sports, Vasseur said, “The recovery so far is amazing. The fact he was able to come today to be with the team is a very good sign and a very good support for us. Now, he will fly back with me tomorrow [Sunday] and he will have one week of complete rest, and we will take a decision on when he has to fly to Melbourne in one week’s time. But I’m quite optimistic.”

Sainz, who fought with his doctors to visit the track on race day, might actually recover in time for the race at Albert Park. The French TP was positive about the Spaniard making his comeback while Bearman will be waiting eagerly in the wings.
What does the future hold for Oliver Bearman and Carlos Sainz?
“He’s an adult, and he’ll take the right decision,”: Frederic Vasseur on Carlos Sainz’s return
Frederic Vasseur admitted that informing Carlos of the Lewis Hamilton signing was the most difficult phone call of his life. However, there has been no doubt over the commitments of the 2024 campaign, and the Spanish driver delivered in the only race he drove. With that in mind, Fred Vasseur hopes for a speedy recovery.

Vasseur said, “Already, at this stage, it was amazing for me, because I found out after the session he was completely destroyed. If you look at the result of FP1 and FP2, he had a very decent pace, and he was even able to do long stints, and this was mega.”
“But now let’s be focused on the future for Carlos. The most important thing is not to push today, it’s to recover and to recover properly. I don’t want to rush, but he’s an adult, and he’ll take the right decision.”
