Max Verstappen would be all geared up to make an appearance this weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix. After all, it’s the Dutch lion’s home race! Zandvoort will be the place where Verstappen either continues his rampant dominance, or it can be a big black blot on his 2023 championship season. But why’s that? As it turns out, the 25-year-old Red Bull maestro may have taken the summer break a little too casually. As a result, he finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

That’s right. As things stand, Max Verstappen is officially on the radar of the Gendarmerie Nationale, otherwise simply known as the French police! But why exactly is the French law enforcement behind the 2x champion?

While some fans would want to see Verstappen apprehended for the absolute robbery he’s been doing this year in terms of his dominant streak, the French police cannot put him behind bars for simple excellence. However, they do have a solid charge sheet built up against the flying Dutchman.

In a recently released video, Verstappen can be seen zooming around in his exquisite Aston Martin Valkyrie. However, what we didn’t see were the French traffic codes he was violating with his rash driving. It is suggested that, “He is seen driving at 124 km/h instead of 90 km/h, 34 km/h over the speed limit. He keeps to the left-hand lane, which is forbidden under the Highway Code.”

What’s more? “The Gendarmerie Nationale has a specialized unit that tracks down such videos posted on social networks.”

Verstappen’s fate lies in the territorial law of France, as things stand. Now, Verstappen can be charged with two violations. Firstly, he was approximately 21 MPH over the designated 56 MPH speed limit. Secondly, he was driving at those speeds on the wrong side of the road.

According to French law, for his first offense, he can be issued a $146 fine and he may also receive 3 penalty points on his license as well as a 3-year suspension of his license. For his second offense, the punishment that can be dished out is exactly the same. All in all, he may lose $292 in this entire mess.
