However, Ralf Schumacher believes his nephew can earn the permanent driver’s role in 2024 at Mercedes under one condition.

Speaking to Sport 1, Ralf Schumacher revealed the one condition which can favor his nephew. The one condition is if George Russell can outperform Hamilton in 2023. This scenario will effectively make Hamilton reconsider his future, according to the German commentator.
He said, “Let’s say George Russell is faster than Lewis Hamilton again. Does he even want to continue? It’s going to be exciting. But Lewis has so much credit at Mercedes that he decides for himself. In any case, the money will not matter to him. He has more than enough of that. The decisive factor will be who suits the new car better.”

However, replacing Hamilton will not be a cakewalk for the young Schumacher. The Brit is poised to claim the elusive eighth title and his recovery in 2022 has him right on track.

As reported by RacingNews365, while speaking to Channel 4 the Austrian boss revealed his beliefs. First, he believes Russell has everything it takes to be a world champion.
Second, he has zero doubts about Hamilton’s qualities. “So that time is going to come, he (George Russell) will win races, he will race for championships. He absolutely has it in him.” He commented on Russell and continued, “But maybe there’s another Lewis championship in between?”
