Fernando Alonso supports this legendary team
Fernando Alonso, who left the world of F1 some three years ago, drove for McLaren in IndyCar 2017 series. Though he came back to F1 in 2021, he still cherishes his time with Andretti and McLaren. The company is headed by former racing driver Michael Andretti. Fans widely regard the driver as one of the most successful in CART history. Notably, he managed 42 victories during his reign.
The company bid to enter the sport in 2024. They are in talks of powering Renault F1 with power units if they reach the deal. Understandably, this could be big for F1, despite no confirmation from FIA.
Moreover, Andretti is also a determined businessman and strives for excellence. Alonso showered the company with genuine appreciation as he said, “I know Michael very well, I know the Andretti family and they are obviously a big part of motor sport in general and they are legends. So if we can have them in Formula 1 that will be the best news, I think for both.” The two-time world champion gave his full yes to Andretti’s F1 dreams and claimed, “It could be a big thing.”
Andretti also sponsors several upcoming and talented drivers. One of them includes F1 former driver Romain Grosjean. The list continues on with Alexander Rossi and even Colton Herta. Astonishingly, Herta has been in the news ever since he joined the McLaren F1 program. The young driver might replace Daniel Ricciardo ahead of 2024.

Michael and his team might be a great addition to F1
Understandably, Michael and Co. are trusted support for many drivers. Alonso, who has spent considerable time with the team, would be clearly happy with their arrival. Although Alonso stood only 29th during his 2017 titular charge with Andretti-led McLaren, he still felt the car was good enough.
Furthermore, the Spaniard believes that this team can cope with the pressure and further added, “And I think they have the capabilities, the resources, they have the talent to be in Formula 1 and be competitive as well. So I hope this thing comes true in the next few years, and I will follow very closely.”
