Both Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso have had legendary careers in Formula One. We consider both drivers to be the greatest of all time in terms of their talent and skills behind the wheel. Vettel has won four World Championships in Formula One, while Alonso has taken the championship trophy home twice.

But it looks like both drivers might be approaching the final phase of their Formula One careers. Vettel is currently racing for Aston Martin which is at the bottom of the table after three races while Alonso is racing for Alpine which is currently in 5th.

The German driver also made a very disappointing start to his 2022 season after returning from COVID-19 in Melbourne. He endured one of the most difficult weekends of his career by managing limited running throughout the weekend.

Alonso. on the other hand, was looking like one of the stronger drivers during the weekend, but it all went downhill in his Q3 lap and it was a spiral from then on.

The last couple of seasons have been really tough for both world champions in Formula One. Vettel was the last challenging for the title in 2018 but lost it in epic fashion after crashing in his home race.

Meanwhile, Alonso returned to the sport in 2021 after leaving at the end of 2019, as he never got to drive a championship-winning car from 2014 onwards. But he returned to the sport on the promise that he would get a competitive car to fight for wins and championships.

Vettel had hinted that he might leave the sport at the end of the 2022 season previously. “Ultimately, having had the path that I have had so far, I’m most interested in winning and that will determine what the future brings,” said The Aston Martin driver.

While Alonso has mentioned occasionally that he would like to continue a bit more in the sport. But both drivers want to win races and championships during their time in the sport. Yet it seems unlikely that their teams will get a chance to fight for race wins and championships anytime soon.

So the end might be near for both legends, and it is a possibility that either one of them or both of them might call it quits on their legendary careers.
