A host of drivers’ market moves in 2020 saw Carlos Sainz make the switch to Scuderia Ferrari. At the time, speculation over the coveted seat was heating up among a few names. But, the Spaniard eventually won that race.
He now arrives at Maranello, the team’s factory site, knowing full well there are expectations on his shoulders. The pressure that the tifosi adds certainly does not help matters at times.
Nevertheless, Sainz is confident that he warrants nothing but commitment to the team and its fans. He believes he is also keen on seeing and helping Ferrari back to where it belongs.

Share the ambition of seeing Ferrari ‘back where it belongs’, says Carlos Sainz
Speaking to the team’s website, Sainz stated, “To all the tifosi out there, I can guarantee my absolute commitment to them and to the Scuderia. We share the same passion for this team and they can be sure I will give my absolute best to make them proud.”
From his time at Renault and McLaren, the 26-year-old has experience of embracing fans’ demands. However, even he will admit that the challenge with the Italian motorsport giants is at a whole different level.

“I will drive my heart out in every single race and work hard away from the track to help the team improve faster. I’m sure we also share the ambition of seeing Ferrari back where it belongs and with their support I’m convinced we will get there sooner than later.”
“It is an absolute honour to represent the best fans in the world and I’m impatient to jump in the car and go racing knowing they’re with me,” concluded Sainz.

Sainz will have to work together with Charles Leclerc to restore the team’s former glory
For Sainz to prove himself, the initial challenge would appear in the form of his own teammate Leclerc. The Monegasque driver currently resides as the team’s star, and Ferrari will also look to him as a future leader.

But Sainz is no slouch either, and brings his own set of skills to the table. Together, a positive relationship can only work wonders for a team that is trying to make its way up the standings.
