Lewis Hamilton is arguably the greatest Formula One driver of all time. Admittedly, he has faced a lot of criticism as many people have mentioned that his dominance in this sport is down to the performance of the car. But Hamilton proved his doubters wrong with his astonishing qualifying performance in the 2018 Singapore Grand Prix.
Hamilton and Mercedes were battling title rivals, Vettel and Ferrari, on the streets of Singapore in 2018. But the then four-time world champion brought out the best qualifying lap of his career to take a crucial pole position in the race. F1 journalist Will Buxton mentioned Hamilton was shaking after the lap.
I remember him visibly shaking after this lap. The very definition of being at the limit and on the edge… perhaps over it a few times. Potentially the greatest driver F1 has ever seen, on inarguably one of his greatest ever laps. https://t.co/9sak1hGNOC

“That lap started perfect, and it just kept going. It felt magical. It felt like one of the best–if not the best lap I’ve ever done. This track is epic. It is the most challenging circuit for us in the year. It is Monaco on steroids,” Hamilton said.
“It is about pulling all the little bits you have found through practice and putting it together–99% of the time it doesn’t go right but that lap I didn’t have a wheelspin, I didn’t have a snap, the car was underneath me and I managed to maximize on every corner. I don’t remember one where I thought I could do more,” said Lewis.
