Netflix’s Formula 1 documentary ‘Drive to Survive’ is set to hit screens on 11 March. After the scintillating end to the 2021 season, fans will be eagerly waiting to see the behind-the-scenes stories of their favorite drivers and teams once again this season. However, new World Champion Max Verstappen will not be part of Season 4 of the new documentary.

The rivalry between Verstappen and rival Lewis Hamilton almost certainly will be the highlight of Season 4 of the Netflix Original, but one-half of this legendary battle will be absent from the Netflix show next week.

Speaking to the Associated Press in October 2021, he had said, “I understand that it needs to be done to boost the popularity in America. But from my side as a driver, I don’t like being part of it.”

“They faked a few rivalries which they don’t really exist. So I decided to not be a part of it and did not give any more interviews after that because then there is nothing you can show. I am not really a dramatic show kind of person, I just want facts and real things to happen.”

Verstappen and Hamilton were neck-and-neck, going into the season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. With Hamilton taking a huge lead, a Nicholas Latifi crash brought in the safety car during the final laps of the race. Moreover, a surprising decision from race director Michael Masi permitted lapped cars to overtake Hamilton.

This allowed Verstappen, who was on fresher tires, to narrow the gap. Eventually, the 24-year-old made the move on the final lap and overtook his rival to win his maiden World Championship.
