There are many reasons fans love Formula 1 drivers. Some love them for their jolly personality off track, some are loved for using their platform to make a difference, and some are loved for simply being great at their job. And then there’s Kimi Raikkonen, easily the most reserved driver on the grid with just one title to his name. And yet, he is arguably the most beloved and respected driver ever.

But why is that?

In his 20 years of Formula 1 career, Raikkonen has given fans moment after moment of sheer originality and fun, both on and off track.

Few of the legendary moments of Kimi Raikkonen banter

During the 2017 weekend in Monaco, Raikkonen’s radio exchange instantly became one for the ages.

The Ferrari driver had no gloves or steering wheel as his car was being pushed on. But Raikkonen kept asking for the gloves and steering wheel on his radio, and within a few seconds, he got really annoyed.

“Somebody tell him to give it to me, COME ON! MOVE!”

And of course, there is the ‘drink’ moment. For some reason, Raikkonen could not have the drink in his car. But what could’ve been said in a few seconds resulted in an exchange for the ages.

“Kimi, you will not have the drink.”

This was just one of the many moments of radio brilliance from the Iceman.

During the FIA Prize Giving ceremony in 2018, a terribly drunk and hammered Raikkonen put on a show better than the organizers could’ve ever dreamed of.

And then there are the endless moments of Raikkonen interviews.
