If you thought being teammates in Formula 1 meant you’re immune to a little playful banter and rivalry, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are here to tell you otherwise. The Ferrari duo have given fans a roller-coaster ride with their on-track battles and off-track X (formerly Twitter) banter. Despite being in their third season together, rumors of friction between the two have been rife. Particularly after some radio exchanges that can only be described as ‘spicy’.

Leclerc though, in an interview with Motorsport.com, took a moment to address these rumors. He explained that while the two have been competitors on the track, they share a great relationship outside of it. He mentioned, “It’s blown out of proportion, I think, with Carlos. We have a great relationship.” Well, color us surprised!

However, the digital age has its own narrative. The Twitterverse caught fire after Carlos’ mom, Reyes Vazquez de Castro, liked a post that claimed Leclerc lacked ‘honor’. Charles, not one to back down, responded by reminding everyone of his 2019 Italian GP win with a single caption, ‘Honor’. Ouch!

Things got more heated after a recent Sainz-related post: “Never problems with Charles? Zero. Yet, they always try to find something and I don’t understand why, while others really have problems.

Fans were quick to jump on this, and oh boy, did they come armed with receipts…

Just when we thought the Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc bromance was sailing smoothly, fans unearthed some rather interesting details.

Fans react, too spicy, need more fans here

A fiery fan was quick to remind Carlos that it was his family that had a problem with Leclerc. Ouch!

One fan took us on a walk down memory lane saying, “For the new fans, not only his mother was liking hate tweets targeted to Charles but also Sainz himself used to enjoy that type of content on Ig or I’m lying???” Now, while we can’t vouch for the veracity of that, the Internet never forgets.

Accusations flew left, right, and center about Sainz’s on-track behavior. One follower noted, “He has blocked Charles in quali 4 times this year, nearly caused a double DNF 2 times, throws him under the bus…” Whoa there, some heavy charges, aren’t they? But not all was to pounce on Sainz. The fan tried to douse the fire with a simple “Stop inventing.” Bless their peace-loving heart.

Some fans decided humor was the best course of action, with a laugh-out-loud comment, “Omg, can’t imagine being this man’s PR team.” They also added, “A few weeks ago your own mother saying Charles have ‘no honor’ 😂.” Ah, family drama, always the spiciest kind.

One fan took the sarcasm route, listing out the possible culprits as “They: your mom, your dad, your uncle, your fans, your media, your sponsor and yourself??” Well, that’s quite the lineup.

With a perfect closing note, one user hilariously pointed out, “talk to your family king!! 😭.”
