What is the F1 slogan ‘Well Done Baku’? Why is it so famous? The Baku circuit is considered one of the most technically challenging F1 race tracks. With a castle as a backdrop and narrow walls to keep at bay, this circuit has seen some high-intensity drama in the past few years. Understandably, it’s a favorite for many F1 fans.

This high-speed circuit held its first race in 2016. The starting F2 race was a mess, where 12 of the 22 drivers did not finish. However, Baku’s very first F1 race was a success, where Nico Rosberg won from pole. As a sign of Baku’s first race celebration, F1 hung the signs “Well Done Baku” all around.
While this sign was supposed to be a serious thing, F1 fans and certain drivers quickly turned it into a meme. Especially Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo (former teammates) certainly enjoy saying the phrase every two minutes. There are circulating videos of ‘Honey Badger’ not leaving a moment to shout “Well Done Baku.”
The venue has played host to some major moments in F1 history. Be it Lewis Hamilton‘s infamous “Magic” button incident, which failed his front brakes, or the perplexing Ricciardo-Verstappen crash, Baku has seen it all. “Well Done Baku” is a phrase that covers up all these moments. The words literally pop up to describe a major event on the track, be it crashes, wins, etc.

Many teams would look forward to redeeming themselves on the track in Azerbaijan. Only last year, the circuit gave us completely new winners as Sergio Perez lifted the silverware alongside Pierre Gasly and Sebastian Vettel. Lewis Hamilton ended P15 as Verstappen retired after an unlucky tire puncture.
While this year has been a close fight between Ferrari and Red Bull, this high-speed circuit will possibly favor them again. As the practice sessions are over, Ferrari and Red Bull still remain the chart-toppers and Merecedes’ struggles with pace continue.
