Lewis Hamilton was so inspired by the original Top Gun during his childhood that he wanted to become a pilot. While that dream did not realize, he got excited when he learned another Top Gun movie was in the making. He approached Tom Cruise and requested him for a role.
Why Lewis Hamilton named his production house Dawn Apollo Films
Lewis Hamilton told Cruise he will work any role, even as a janitor in the background. He just wanted to be a part of the project. Imagine how happy the boy from Stevenage would have been when he was offered not an insignificant role, but the role of another fighter pilot alongside Tom Cruise. The happiness was short-lived as he had to back out owing to the Formula 1 season clashing with shooting dates.
Now he is working with Maverick’s director Joseph Kosinski on his $140 million project. He even managed to rope in the Fight Club superstar Brad Pitt for his movie based around Formula 1. In his interview with Deadline, he talked about the project and answered why he named his production house Dawn Apollo Films.
“Apollo is the Greek god of sunlight, music and poetry, so I’ve always loved the name. Dawn because it is a time of other-worldliness and light, and symbolizes new beginnings. It’s generally a time of day that I love,” Hamilton said.

The production house is also working on a documentary, apart from the movie. Apple TV+ has bought the rights for both projects.

Nicholas Latifi’s three-year stint with Williams is coming to an end. Team principal Jost Capito recently announced they will bring in American F2 driver Logan Sargeant to fill Latifi’s seat next season, provided he acquires the required number of Super License points.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner lauded Williams’ effort to bring in an American driver to F1. But the appreciative comment came in with a dig at Lewis Hamilton’s movie project’s star Brad Pitt. During the FIA press conference, Horner said, “I think we need an American driver. Not only just a driver, we need a successful driver in there competing as well. It shouldn’t just be Brad Pitt.”
