For three seasons, Sergio Perez has called Red Bull his Formula 1 home. The Milton-Keynes squad has been his on-track family. The thing is, Red Bull has also proved to be quite a stressful environment for the Mexican, especially in 2023. After starting the season on a high, it’s only been failure after failure for Perez. The fact that Max Verstappen is his teammate, the driver he’s continually compared to, doesn’t help. His only respite from the ever-present pressures of being a Red Bull driver? He has a beautiful family to go back home to—his wife, Carola Martinez, and his four children.
“Formula 1 is my sport, my life, my passion. If you are having such a hard time at work, it is difficult to be cheerful at home with your wife and children. That’s why I hired a mental coach because my family deserves to have that cheerful father at home.” Despite the stressful times at Red Bull, Perez’s priority is his family and being a good parent along with his wife. Here’s all you need to know about the Perez family.

Unlike Perez’s performances this year that have grabbed the headlines, his personal life has never really come into the spotlight. That’s to say that he prefers keeping his personal life to himself. Considering that, there isn’t much people know about his wife, Carola, or their relationship. But we do know that, despite dating for quite some time, Perez officially announced his relationship with his then-girlfriend in 2017, right before the birth of their first child.

When their relationship became public, Perez proposed to Carola in August 2017. After welcoming their first child—Sergio Perez Jr.—on December 21, 2017, the couple tied the knot a few months later in June 2018. Considering they were both born in Guadalajara, Mexico, that was the perfect destination for their wedding, one that was blessed by Pope Francis. A year after they exchanged vows, Perez and Martinez welcomed their second child—Carlota Perez Martinez—on September 15, 2019.
Since then, Martinez has made quite a few appearances in the paddock, usually with Perez Jr. and Carlota tagging along. For the past year or so, the trio hasn’t visited the paddock quite as often, primarily because the family of four became five before the 2022 Spanish GP. On May 15, 2022, Perez and Martinez welcomed their second son, Emilio Perez. Carola, born in 1997, also has an Instagram following of 174k, where she posts updates about her life with her kids and her husband.
The Perez clan is a small, happy family. With Perez facing a tough time at Red Bull, Carola and his kids are strong pillars in his life, cheering him on. Speaking about Red Bull, Perez’s colleagues took the mickey out of him after the Mexican shared news about another addition to the Perez family.
Sergio Perez and Carola Martinez welcomed their fourth child
Last month, Perez announced the arrival of his newborn daughter. At a Red Bull promotional event in the build-up to the US GP, Perez talked about his fourth child. Team Principal Christian Horner didn’t pass up the opportunity to pull the Mexican’s leg. He asked, “Is that it now? Is four finished or are you going to keep going? Is number five due around the Christmas holidays?” Following this, Horner even added, “You’ve got more babies than [Verstappen has] got championships.”

Considering Max Verstappen won his third title at the Qatar GP, Perez has one kid more than the Dutchman’s championship tally. Perez responded to his boss, “[Verstappen] is going to catch up.” To add to Horner’s playful jabs, Verstappen chimed in his own. “I think he wants to make a football team. He wants a starting 11,” said Verstappen.
