Who Is Charles Leclerc’s Mother, Pascale Leclerc?

When we think of Ferrari’s star driver, the name that comes to mind is Charles Leclerc. As a boy, all he dreamed about was driving for Ferrari and now he stands as the driver with the longest F1 contract with the manufacturer. Although he has not yet become a world champion, Ferrari and Tifosi all over the world believe that he will win the title one day. However, his biggest support has to be his mother, Pascale Leclerc.

A lady with humble beginnings Pascale Leclerc has been the pillar of strength that the 26-year-old driver needs. Life was not easy for her because, as soon as money stopped being a problem, the safety of her son became a growing concern. She has lost two important people in her life who mean a lot to Charles Leclerc too. This is despite her support, she is rarely seen around the paddocks, so let’s take a deeper dive into where the Ferrari star boy comes from.

Who is Charles Leclerc?

By now, anyone into Formula 1, knows who Charles Leclerc is. If you don’t, then here is what you need to know about the five-time Ferrari race winner. Although Leclerc was born in Monaco on October 16, 1997, he did not live the glamorous life he does today. Growing up in a blue-collar area, things were difficult for his parents, Hervé and Pascale Leclerc. Today, things are no longer the same, as he now stands as one of the wealthiest people in Monaco.

A huge factor that helped him get into racing was his father, who raced in Formula 3, and his godfather, Jules Bianchi, the late F1 driver who was on his way to the Scuderia. Losing both of these figures in his life had a huge impact on the Ferrari driver, but it never scared him away from his goal of becoming the world champion. Leclerc believes it’s the least he can do to make up for all the sacrifices his parents have made.

Who are Charles Lecelerc’s parents?

As we mentioned before, Charles was born to parents Hervé and Pascale Leclerc. While his father raced in Formula 3, his mother had a hairdressing job that she ran to support the house. Incidentally, Pascale Leclerc happens to be David Coulthard’s hairdresser, which is no surprise as they both live in Monaco. But it was surprising to Coulthard, who had no idea that he was getting his hair done by the mother of a Ferrari driver. That was until he found one when we met Pascale at the F1 paddocks.

On the other hand, it was Hervé Leclerc who actually got the Ferrari driver into karting at a young age. It was his father who used to take him for karting when Leclerc used to take sick leave from school, and those trips have now developed him into a world-class driver. Despite getting him into racing, it got expensive as the family income was not enough to support 2 drivers, but Jules Bianchi pulled strings to get Charles Leclerc into the Ferrari driver academy.

Unfortunately, Leclerc’s father never made his way to F1. Neither could he see his son do so, as he passed away due to illness just four days before Charles won the feature race at the 2017 Baku Formula 2. Hervé and Pascale Leclerc have three sons, and while Charles and the youngest son Arthur are working with Ferrari, the eldest son Lorenzo is the Managing Director of Square Capital and the Co-Founder and CEO of All-TIME.

Pascale Leclerc’s influence on Charles Leclerc

Pascale Leclerc has always been there for her son in ways that we can not imagine. It was only after the death of Jules Bianchi, Leclerc’s godfather, that she understood the dangers of the sport. Although she skips out on watching her son race at the tracks, she is one of his biggest fans.

Back in 2018, Pascale Leclerc was interviewed and this is the translation of what she spoke about when it came to her son’s racing, “In kart, the first championships scared me a bit. I no longer accompanied my son and my husband to the races.” 

In response to his being asked about his mother’s statement, in 2022, Leclerc told Sky Sports Italy, “My mother is very worried. I don’t know what to say to her, apart from the fact that I love my job. There is nothing in particular that I can add to make her feel better.”

How will Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari affect Charles Leclerc?

Now that the biggest name in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton is moving to Ferrari, things won’t be the same for Charles Leclerc. Hamilton will become the brand ambassador next year, and that will pull Charles Leclerc out of the limelight.

2025 will be a test to see how well Lewis Hamilton fits into the team, as currently, Charles Leclerc is a quicker driver on track. If Leclerc wants to be the favored driver, he has a lot to prove, starting this season itself. Will he become a world champion and make his dream come true?
