“Whipped About Daniel”: Lando Norris’ “Cute” Response to Ricciardo Stealing His Thunder Melts F1 Fans

A little over a week after their anticipated reunion, Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo are back with more ‘Landan’ content for fans to gush over. And this time, it came at the hands of Daniel Ricciardo, literally. The Belgian GP wasn’t what McLaren would’ve hoped for. After two weekends of fighting for podiums and getting them, the Woking outfit was looking forward to Spa, a circuit it’s been good at in the past. But Norris and Oscar Piastri’s “three-four, three-four” prediction for the Sprint and the main race didn’t pan out, and while Piastri’s race got over even before it started, Norris managed to squeeze out a few points with a P7.

McLaren went the unconventional way and set its car up on a high downforce setting, which made it faster than anyone through the corner (especially in the second sector) but disadvantaged in sectors one and three. And it wasn’t just the Mercedes’ and the Aston Martins overtaking Norris. It was almost the entire field, including Ricciardo in his AlphaTauri—arguably the slowest car on the grid.

After starting 7th, Norris was running plumb last in 18th at one point, but with an aggressive tire strategy, he made his way back to 7th on the grid. But Norris and Ricciardo’s little encounter on track wasn’t what led to fans’ hearts melting.

In a post-race interview, while Lando was discussing his shocking pace at the start, Daniel walked past him, giving him a (sympathy) pat on the back. As a response, Lando said, “cute.” And fans couldn’t stop gushing over how Lando never fails to go all dreamy-eyed whenever he’s around Daniel.

After Ricciardo’s pat, the interviewer said, “It feels like everyone’s giving you sympathy pats.” Norris replied, “Oh, they are. Everyone was overtaking me before the DRS activation zone,” referring to how slow he was approaching the straights. But even while saying that, Lando couldn’t help but look at Daniel a couple of times, and Landan fans didn’t miss it.

A couple of Twitteratis wrote how Lando is “whipped” for Daniel, basically saying he’s in love with Daniel.

A few fans wrote how they’re back to getting bits and pieces of Lando and Daniel together, calling these sneak peeks “Dando crumbs.”

Other users pointed out how Lando is such a “baby girl” for Daniel, meaning he becomes adorable and charming whenever Daniel is around.

Another fan just plain called Daniel cute, agreeing with what Lando said.

And instead of commenting on what happened in the video, one Twitterati wrote how nice it was of Lando to greet Daniel on track when the Aussie overtook him.
