Plenty to talk about from the incident-full Brazilian GP with a first-time winner, among other incidents. However, nothing compares to the drama brewing up in the Red Bull garage. By now, we are all aware Max Verstappen denied team orders to let Sergio Perez pass. This invoked ESPN to recall all the times Perez helped the Verstappen in his championship-winning season.
The American news outlet’s Formula 1 wing tweeted a list of all the incidents in which Perez helped Verstappen. The list does not include incidents from the 2022 season. Although, there have been incidents where Perez has obeyed team orders in the current season.

The list, as assembled by ESPN F1:
- Monaco: Overcuts Hamilton to 6th Place, and Max [Verstappen] wins.
- Baku: Doesn’t allow Hamilton to pass him all race, and at the second start-up, Hamilton goes long and ends 16th.
- France: Due to position makes Hamilton not go into the pits, Max catches up, passes Hamilton, and wins the race.
- Silverstone: Took the fastest lap from HAM.
- Turkey: Perez defends and leaves Hamilton in 5th, and Max gets 2nd.
- Austin: Makes Hamilton make a pit stop too soon to prevent an undercut, and Max wins.
- Brazil: Takes the fastest lap from Hamilton.
- Abu Dhabi: Holds him up for 10 seconds, making Hamilton skip pit stops in order to not lose position.
This expansive list details eight unique events from the 2021 season where Perez’s good word helped Verstappen. Yet the Dutchman did not allow his teammate to pass to solidify his footing in the driver’s championship. How does the Mexican feel about that?

The Mexican gave his place to Verstappen as per team orders to fight Leclerc and steal as many points as possible from the Monegasque. However, after Verstappen failed to do so, he even refused to give Perez his position back.

When asked about the scenario in the post-race interview with Sky Sports, Perez said, “Nothing to say, really. I mean, after all I’ve done for him, it’s a bit disappointing, to be honest.”
“I am really surprised.”
