Lewis Hamilton used to have an enviable car collection, but he slowly sold all of his cars. The Mercedes driver is trying to cut down his carbon footprint on the world and shifted his focus toward buying electric vehicles. He has been working closing with Mercedes to develop his dream car, Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS.

The stylish German car comes at a cost of around $104.8K. It takes 4.5 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph, using a 350 kW electric motor that can generate up to 470bhp.

It can travel up to 435 miles on the full charge battery. So no wonder it caught the eye of the 7-time world champion who is looking to offset his carbon footprint.

Why is Lewis Hamilton trying to cut down on his carbon footprint?

Since joining the sport in 2007, Hamilton has been one of the highest-paid drivers on the grid. In his early years, he often used to spend heavily on buying his favorite cars such as Pagani Zonda, Ferrari, etc.

He even used to own a private jet for himself so that he can travel throughout the world without any hassle. But in recent years, because of the increasing carbon emissions and global warming, he decided to change his lifestyle. Going electric is a step in the right direction for the 7-time world champion.

It is great to see Hamilton spreading awareness about climate change and cutting down on his carbon footprint. A driver of a structure needs to spread more awareness so that his fans and followers alike can also realize the importance of going electric.

It would be interesting to see if he brings the Mercedes Benz- Vision to the F1 paddock anytime soon.
