Lewis Hamilton is arguably the ringleader of the traveling circus we all call Formula 1. Hence, it should not come as a surprise that the 7x Champion has been to and seen the whole world. But according to him, a certain trip he took a while back will always hold a special place in his heart because of his mother.

Hamilton has always been very vocal about his relationship with his mother. He’s also been quite outspoken about how much he loves movies. In light of this, a 17-year-old Lewis Hamilton was once treated by his mother to a special trip that is still etched into his memory.
In the Good Travel Talk video from Marriott Bonvoy, he said, “‘Coming to America’ One of my favorite, if not my favorite movie. And they’re in New York.”
He continued, “When I was 17, my mom knew that that was the place that I really wanted to go to. My mom saved up and took me out there.” Amongst all the room service and sightseeing, this was a special trip for him.
“So that was a very, very special time.”
Even though the trip to New York was one that excited a 17-year-old on his way to F1, his journey in F1 and the subsequent experiences made another trip he took recently a very special one for the Champion.
Lewis Hamilton reveals the trip that changed his life
Lewis Hamilton has almost achieved everything achievable in F1. But his journey to the zenith has been marked with thorns and impediments. That being said, he stuck to his roots and came out victorious. With this sentiment in mind, he made a trip this summer break, which he claims changed his life.
He said, “The most recent trip that I did was to the continent of Africa. That was definitely life-changing an experience.”

He then went on to explain why this was the case. “It was very grounding. I can’t wait to go back to Africa.”
