Lewis Hamilton has achieved everything an F1 driver can, he has named himself seven titles and 103 wins till now. Having achieved such heights in his career, he now wants to spread social awareness on issues like animal rights, and the climate crisis. Last year, Hamilton was caught up with Highsnobiety to discuss some of the social issues in 2020.
When asked how the seven-time world champion terms diversity in racing, and how he hopes his career inspires other young racers, the Brit replied, “When I’ve been talking about diversity, it’s not necessarily just about drivers.”
“There are only 20 drivers in Formula One. I plan to work towards making sure I have enough impact to spark some change so that our sport can be more diverse in the future.”
The Mercedes star believes if he quits racing, then the lineup will involve only white drivers, “At the moment, when I stop, it will go back to being an all-white driver lineup, as there are currently no other young Black kids coming through anytime soon,” said the F1 star
Apart from promoting all the social issues, the Mercedes star has once said, he will continue in Formula 1 [after his racing days are over] in some sort of role to make sure to continue with his fight. Do you know what motivates the Mercedes star to compete on track?

He even wore a T-shirt after winning Tuscan GP in 2020 to show his support against the shooting incident of the black medical worker Breonna Taylor. Post-race Hamilton told SkySports, “I’ve been drawing on feeding off this energy of doing this positive work. Getting on the podium so I can give Breonna that voice, it was a super drive for me.
He further added telling what his life’s real purpose is, “ So now it’s the work that I’m doing in the background and then I’m turning up and I’m enjoying this job. I feel like it also gives my life real purpose. Racing is not a purpose, it’s something you do.”
